The East Edisto Conservancy: preserving the rural.

The first cornerstone states that the rural character of the land is to be preserved. To ensure that this objective is met, a single-purpose entity known as the East Edisto Conservancy was formed to implement and oversee a residential density restriction on 75% of all East Edisto land. Governed by a five-person board, with a majority representing environmental groups and the remaining members representing East Edisto landowners, the nonprofit Conservancy is empowered to manage the density restriction with complete autonomy and in perpetuity.
